Alternate tunings

Here is a list of alternate tunings, most of these work on a standard 6 string, I've just touched them up to apply to a 12 string. Why alternate tune?

Standard tuning is, well, standard. Here it is

Alternate tunings allow things that would be impossible in standard tuning, gives a different sound. This is use full for artists trying to achieve a different sound. Or just to play around. Some players prefer an open tuning on a 12 string because of the sound it gives off, others prefer the sound of a lower tuning. (this also reduces tension on the neck)

However, be care full, this is stress full on the strings. It is almost guaranteed that the high G string will break if you tune down and then tune back up. Allot of people recommend having a guitar dedicated to an alternate tuning, to avoid this wear and tear. You'll be able to do most tunings without much of a change, but you might consider changing the gauges of your strings to better suit your tuning.

Dropped tunings

Open tunings

Experimental tunings

Fun fact; Allot of players say that it doesn't put any stress on the neck to tune 1 whole step up or down. so that makes 15,625 possible tunings for a six-string guitar. And with that same math and logic 244 140 625 on a 12 string. Many of which would be...unique :)

It'll be great to see a list of 12 string specific tunings.
