Dropped tunings

Dropped tunings usually have a lower 11th and 12th string, and tend to follow a pattern. Used mostly today by thrash bands, it has it's origins in folk music.

Drop D tuning -dDaAdDgGBBEE- this is pretty standard, probably the second most used tuning. All you need to do is "Drop" the eE strings down to dD. Most people switch between this even in live sets. This is used in all types of music.

Double Drop D tuning -dDaAdDgGBBDD- just a slight variation of drop D, except the higher E strings are dropped down to D as well. You notice that most of these low drop tunings are found primarily in heavier rock.

Dropped C -cCgGcCfFAADD- Just like drop D, but all the rest of the strings are put down a full step.

Dropped B bBf#F#bBeEG#G#C#C# Similar to both dropped D and C, but lowered from dropped C an additional semitone, or half step. This is mostly popular in heavier style rock, but has been see in indie music. This many require heavier gauge strings as it is so low.
