Open tunings

Open tunings are fairly common among 12 string players and fingerstyle players as thay give a very symponic sound. They also are popular with slide guitar players, this is because of the main charicteristics of an open tuning; It gives off a nice chord sound even with no strings fretted, or barred at any fret.
